The largest platform for the global energy industry, Smarter E Europe, was a phenomenal success in June! From April 8-10, 2025, Messe Berlin will host Europe's leading event for digital health, DMEA. It brings together decision-makers from across the healthcare sector, including IT specialists, physicians, hospital and nursing care executives, and experts from politics, science, and research.

Es handelt sich hierbei um eine freiwillige Maßnahme. Das Deutsche Institut rät, von dieser Möglichkeit Gebrauch zu machen, damit es, falls erforderlich, in Krisen- und sonstigen Ausnahmesituationen mit Deutschen schnell in Verbindung treten kann.

Premier Cho Touts Plan for Economy
Premier Cho Jung-tai announced the National Development Council's (NDC) four-year plan, which aims for 3% economic growth, a GDP per capita of US$40,000, an unemployment rate below 3.5%, and stable inflation at 2%. The NDC's goals consider both domestic and international factors, and more detailed strategies will be provided by President William Lai at the end of the month. The plan includes transforming Taiwan into an Asian asset management hub, attracting US$3.29 trillion in strategic industry investments, and prioritizing "inclusive growth" to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with NT$10.5 billion.

Taiwan Takes Part in APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting
Taiwan's Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs, Chen Cherng-chyi, led a delegation to the 2024 APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting in Lima, Peru, on August 15-16 to share Taiwan's renewable energy initiatives. Chen emphasized Taiwan's commitment to a fair energy transition and highlighted the innovative Aquavoltaics Development policy, which promotes a green economy and job creation despite the island's limited land resources.

Taiwan's TSMC to Break Ground on Germany Plant
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Germany plant in Dresden on Tuesday, August 20. Led by Chair C. C. Wei, this event marks TSMC's official expansion into Europe. The European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC) project, with TSMC holding a 70% stake and Bosch, Infineon, and NXP each holding 10%, is moving forward as planned.
TSMC's investment in ESMC is expected to exceed €10 billion, with chip production set to begin by the end of 2027 using 28/22nm technology and a monthly capacity of 40,000 12-inch wafers. Wei emphasized TSMC's commitment to expanding its global semiconductor facilities, including projects in Arizona, Kumamoto, and now Europe.

Taiwan's Main International Airport to Open Third Terminal in 2027
Taoyuan Airport Corporation announced that its new terminal is set to open in the second half of 2027. General Manager Fan Hsiao-lun revealed at a press conference that the third terminal is currently 40% complete.
The project budget has increased from NT$95.6 billion (US$2.57 billion) to NT$128.4 billion due to inflation and has been submitted to the National Development Council for review. More than 1,500 workers are currently on site, with that number expected to rise to 4,000 by 2024.
The terminal features 20-meter-tall pillars inspired by banyan tree branches, with about a third of them already installed. Additionally, the company will review the existing terminals and consider the need for a fourth terminal and possible renovations.
