Review: German-Taiwanese Conference Regarding the Sporting Goods, Fitness and Leisure Equipment

As part of the market development program of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Action, we successfully hosted the “German-Taiwanese Conference regarding the sporting goods, fitness, and leisure equipment” at the ILLUME Hotel Taipei last Wednesday. Its primary objective was to facilitate connections between Taiwanese businesses seeking new brands for their product portfolio and German suppliers renowned for their high-quality leisure equipment. We were very happy to see more than 70 attendees participating in the conference.

Our Director Mr. Axel Limberg as well as Director General of the German Institute Taipei Dr. Jörg Polster and Mr. Jeff Chen, President of Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association gave their opening remarks. This time, they were joined by Mrs. Leonie Yang, General Manager of DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., and Mr. George Wood, President of TBS Group Corporation and Board Director of WFSGI, each delivered a keynote speech – Mrs. Yang on “Overview of the German leisure and sporting market” and Mr. Wood on “Trends and Outlook of Taiwanese sporting industries” respectively.

Once the conference ended, our attendees had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions. Then the networking began! Following the formal proceedings, participants were able to deepen their interactions with representatives from prominent German companies during informal coffee and lunch sessions. These moments allowed for further exploration of potential synergies and business opportunities. The lunch break was ideal for everyone to get together in a casual way and talk about the findings. Moreover, our “business speed dating” acted as a fun alternative to making connections the traditional way.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our esteemed speakers and to all Taiwanese business professionals whose contributions played a major role in making our conference an outstanding event. Additionally, we thank the following three German delegates that made the conference possible:

  • Maul Sport GmbH

  • MTS Sportartikel GmbH

  • Hello Products GmbH

Overall, the German-Taiwanese Conference proved to be a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, relationship building, and the exploration of business prospects in the leisure equipment industry. We are looking forward to the B2B meetings that are going to follow.

Taiwan's Economy Turns Stable in January

Taiwan's economy turned stable in January, as an index gauging economic conditions flashed a "green" light in January on signs of improvement in production, investment, and retail sales, the National Development Council (NDC) said Monday.

The leading indicators assessing the state of the economy over the next three to six months also moved higher for the fourth consecutive month in January, indicating economic growth on the horizon, the NDC said.

Data compiled by the NDC, Taiwan's top economic planning body, showed the composite index of economic indicators rising five points from a month earlier to 27, the highest level since May, when the index reached 28.

Taiwan's Exports Rise for 4th Straight Month in February

Taiwan on Friday reported a fourth straight month of year-on-year export growth in February, with outbound sales rising by 1.3 percent from a year earlier to US$31.43 billion, the second highest ever for the month, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

The surge was partly a result of solid demand for information technology and audio-visual products, which reached US$8.51 billion in February, double the level of the previous year and an all-time-high for the month, the ministry said in a press release.

TSMC Reports Highest Sales Ever for February

Analysts said the year-over-year sales increase reflected solid demand for artificial intelligence applications that need TSMC's high-end processes.
