Welcome!

Dear Subscriber,

Happy New Year from the German Trade Office Taipei!

As we step into 2024, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable support over the past year. It's been a remarkable journey, and we're excited to continue fostering the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between German and Taiwanese businesses.

Here is a recap of some of our achievements from last month. Häfele National Student Design Competition recently concluded with a fantastic turnout of 183 entries! With 40 teams awarded, it was a splendid opportunity for students to bring their textbook knowledge to life. Our appreciation goes to Häfele Taiwan for organizing this meaningful competition and enriching the students' experience in creating innovative and sustainable designs. Discover more in our Top News.

Ms. Leonie Yang, General Manager of DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., held a productive meeting with the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP). This led to promising initiatives and prospective collaboration platforms like ITB Berlin, ITB Asia, Bazaar Berlin, and Asia Fruit Logistica. We're thrilled to present Taiwan's unique indigenous cultures to Germany and beyond in 2024. Learn more in our GTO News.

Our interns had the enriching experience of being interviewed at RTI, discussing their time in Taiwan and with our office. The second part of this interview is now available. These broadcasts serve not only our German community in Taiwan but also provide global insights. The interview, in German, is accessible in our GTO News.

Don’t miss out on the EUREM program starting this February! It's a comprehensive professional development course designed to help employees identify and capitalize on energy efficiency opportunities. This is your chance to reduce costs and advance your sustainability and decarbonization efforts. For more details, check our GTO News.

We're filled with anticipation for what 2024 will bring and are committed to making it a year of progress and fruitful collaborations.

We have sincerely felt the warmth and hospitality from the CIP during the visit. CIP’s enthusiasm and passion has taken our conversation into a very intensive and active stage. In the course of this meeting, promising initiatives were materialized. ITB Berlin, ITB Asia, Bazaar Berlin, and Asia Fruit Logistica have emerged as prospective platforms to foster collaboration between our office and CIP.

Our Interns Interview at RTI Part 2 (in German)

Our interns had the great opportunity to visit Radio Taiwan International (RTI) recnetly, where they gave an interview about their experiences in Taiwan and at our office. The second part of this interview is now available. Afterwards they had interesting discussions with the German editorial team about current topics regarding Taiwan. RTI is a public broadcast, having programs in 14 different languages and dialects.

The main mission of Radio Taiwan International is to convey the most comprehensive picture of Taiwan to the world through objective, informative, accurate and up-to-date programs about Taiwan's democratization process, developments in politics and society, economy or art and culture. Broadcasts like RTI enable our German community here in Taiwan, but also all around the world the great opportunity to get frequent informative updates about the island, and to listen to stories about German individuals living in Taiwan.

We are happy that our interns were given this chance to share their experiences in an interview like this and give a deeper insight and understanding into the German-Taiwanese trade and into our office’s intern programs.
