Welcome!

Dear Subscriber,

last Tuesday we conducted the “Smart Connection to Taoyuan Business Seminar” together with the Taoyuan City government. Over 60 participants joined the seminar to learn more about the latest developments in IoT, smart healthcare and the MedTech industry.

On Friday, IFA 2019 started, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. More than 30 Taiwanese exhibitors came to Berlin to showcase their latest products to customers from all over the world.

This week’s highlight will be the 4th “Germany – Taiwan Smart Machinery Forum & 18th Germany Taiwan Joint Business Council” taking place in Stuttgart on Friday, September 13. A Taiwanese delegation of high-ranking business executives and government representatives will be received by Mr. Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to discuss about the latest trends in the sector of Industry 4.0 and Smart Machinery.

Furthermore, we are already looking forward to our 2019 GTO German Business Day at the Regent Taipei Oktoberfest on October 4. Just as in the previous years, it will be a great networking event with a fantastic night of German food and authentic German beer, accompanied by live music with traditional Oktoberfest vibes.

What happened in Taiwan last week? According to a survey released by the Ministry of Labor, the number of positions available in the job market is expected to rise by 36,400 from October to December compared to the third quarter.

Event Details:
Date: 19/09/2019 | 13:30 - 17:00

More than one year has passed since the EU General Data Protection Regulation has been enacted. However, according to a survey conducted by the European Business Awards, a lot of businesses, including around 30% of European businesses are not yet compliant. Lesser known yet highly relevant for business in Taiwan is the Taiwan Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). The PDPA applies to all companies, individuals and public organizations doing business in Taiwan.

The German Trade Office is proud to work with our partner KPMG to provide a workshop to discuss implications of the GDPR and the PDPA as well as the necessary steps businesses can take to ensure compliance with the regulations.
