  • From Promise to Performance: #V2025 provided more than a glance at the Future in Surface Technology. The V2025, one of the most established and highly regarded meetings of the vacuum, plasma, and coating community in Europe, is now behind us. The event featured immersive discussions and inspiring lectures, highlighting that reproducible processes, scalable architectures, and resource-efficient design increasingly define industrial success. Thin film and vacuum technologies are moving from research halls into full-scale production lines. That transition — from experimental precision to industrial reliability — was the clear message we brought home from the event. Here are our key takeaways: 1️⃣ Industrial robustness defines success The conversations and presentations at V2025 underlined a simple truth: a process is only as valuable as its reproducibility. Stable coating conditions, controlled interfaces, and predictable results are becoming decisive for competitiveness. That's why we at FHR focus on embedding real-time process control so performance remains consistent, even under demanding production conditions. 2️⃣ Scalability turns potential into profit The market no longer rewards proof-of-concept alone. What matters is how reliably thin film processes can scale. We see this as the central lever for our customers: reducing qualification times, maintaining uniformity, and achieving high yield at production speed. 3️⃣ Sustainability becomes an engineering parameter Efficiency and environmental responsibility are no longer separate goals. Every watt saved, every cubic meter of gas reused, every gram of target material optimized adds up to lower costs and a smaller footprint. 4️⃣ Functional surfaces create differentiation Thin films are evolving from functional coatings to active enablers, e.g., for unique optical or conductive surface characteristics. This opens new application spaces in optics, energy, and advanced manufacturing. It also challenges us to rethink how coating architectures can deliver multiple functions within a single process window. Our conclusion V2025 confirmed what we experience in daily collaboration with customers: thin film technology is becoming a core enabler for industrial competitiveness. The focus is shifting from general feasibility to full scalability, transforming precision into production value. Stability, scalability, or sustainability? Which of these challenges are you currently facing in your production environment? Let's continue the conversation. #WeAreFHR #TheThinFilmCompany

Just like runners in the starting blocks, the electronics, optics, and energy industries are in position – ready, but still waiting for the starting signal.   Ahead lies more than one race: new materials, immersive digital reality and sustainable energy technologies each promise disruptive change. Plasma surface coating is at the crossroads of these fields – enabling innovation, but also raising the question: which path is the most promising in terms of efficiency and success?   European Society of Thin Films called, and the thin film community comes together in Dresden to explore where these paths might lead. 🔬 Material innovations – New coatings unlock performance, but every material system comes with qualification challenges. How can we strike a balance between complexity and the ambition to push boundaries? ⚙️ Cost and process complexity – High-end plasma technologies demand capital, expertise and fine-tuning. How do we make advanced coatings scalable beyond a few flagship applications? ♻️ Sustainability of manufacturing – Many vacuum processes remain energy-intensive, even though they avoid toxic chemistries. How can we minimize environmental impact without losing efficiency?   FHR will be on site in Dresden – to listen, exchange and discuss. Meet us at Booth E6 and let's determine which of these topics should take the spotlight at #V2025.   #WeAreFHR #TheThinFilmCompany

  • While many focus on the latest devices, the real game changers are the enabling technologies behind them. The CIOE (China International Optoelectronic Exposition) once again proved to be an excellent platform for exchange and networking, particularly in the realm of tech-enabling technologies. With more than 3,800 exhibitors and over 130,000 visitors, it reflects the full scope of the optoelectronics industry – from #PrecisionOptics to optical communication and #Photonics for data centers. Together with our sister company #VMET and other associates from Vital Materials Co., Limited, we had the opportunity to engage in valuable discussions and strengthen our ties across the ecosystem. For us, three growth fields are apparent: 🕶️ AR Optics: Demand coatings of the highest precision – from waveguides to anti-reflection systems. Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and advanced sputtering technologies ensure the stability, efficiency, and optical performance that next-generation devices require. 🖥️ AI Infrastructure: Massive investments in AI computing power drive growing demand for data centers and advanced semiconductor packaging. Thin films play a crucial role here, from barrier and dielectric layers that protect and insulate, to optical interconnects that enable high-speed, energy-efficient communication within and between chips. These thin-film technologies are crucial for enhancing performance, reducing power consumption, and scaling AI hardware infrastructure. ⚛️ Quantum and Photonic Integration: Emerging applications in quantum computing and photonic devices rely on innovative optoelectronic materials and precise thin-film coatings. These technologies support breakthroughs in sensor sensitivity, data transmission rates, and computing architectures, opening new frontiers in information processing and communication. That is why we are convinced: thin-film technologies are not just a supporting act – they are the foundation enabling breakthroughs across AR, AI, and quantum photonics. 👉 Where do you see the most significant opportunities for thin-film solutions in evolving these markets? #WeAreFHR #TheThinFilmCompany

  • 📚 When Complexity Becomes the Norm, Structure Is Essential. In #CustomEngineering, high product variation, documentation requirements, and tight project timelines are everyday challenges. Over time, organically grown #TechnicalDocumentation processes can lead to inconsistencies, redundancies, and inefficiencies for internal teams and customers. At FHR Anlagenbau, we adopted a structured approach to overcome this. "Thanks to the standardization and modularization of text modules, the benefits in terms of time and cost savings are already noticeable," says Gabriele Gröger, our Head of Technical Documentation. Here's what we learned: ➡️ Complexity needs structure Unstructured content became a bottleneck for quality and speed. ➡️ We rethought our editorial process From text-heavy documents to modular, reusable content. Cross-functional collaboration and clear workflows were key. ➡️ The results speak for themselves Greater consistency, faster updates, fewer internal clarifications, and documentation that scales with product diversity. ➡️ Clear benefits for our customers Transparent, reliable, and easily navigable documentation – delivered on time and fit for purpose. ✅ At FHR, structured documentation is more than an internal improvement – it's a direct contribution to customer success. Special thanks to the team at kothes GmbH - Smart Information Solutions for supporting the implementation of SCHEMA #ST4 from Quanos. 👉 Read the full #SuccessStory: https://lnkd.in/d3D6cE7M 💬 What structures have helped you reduce complexity in your processes?
