About us

We specialise in the development of thin-film technologies and vacuum coating equipment as well as production of sputtering targets and providing services in the thin-film segment. Our biggest business area is the construction of vacuum coating systems that utilise evaporation, sputtering, PECVD and ALD technologies all the way from research to industry scale. With the aid of our systems, our customers develop and build applications in different markets such as electronics, MEMS and sensor technology, precision optics, display systems, solar selective coatings, printed electronics, solar thermal systems or photovoltaics. We have delivered many tailor-made vacuum coating systems to customers all around the world, including modular cluster systems for both static and dynamic coating of smaller substrates, high-productivity continuous feed systems for coating large area surfaces, as well as innovative roll-to-roll systems for coating flexible substrates like metal strips or polymer films. We are particularly a market leader in the area of roll-to-roll vacuum coating. We specialize in design and manufacturing of custom-made equipment from R&D to pilot and all the way to full manufacturing scale to fulfil the specific requirements of our customers.

We featured the publication in another post some months ago and explored its immense potential. Now, our colleague, Group Leader of Advanced Technology Jose Barzola Quiquia, is taking it to the next level at DPG 2025 in Regensburg. Together with the publication's co-authors, they will present this important topic at the most crucial event of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft e. V. Our esteemed expert, Dr. José Barzola Quiquia, leader of the “Advanced Technologies” division at FHR, co-authored a significant scientific publication titled “Thermopower and resistivity of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 in the amorphous and crystalline phase.” This research paves the way for a tremendous technological transformation: ♨️ Thermoelectric Materials: Due to their high thermopower, Bi2Te3 materials could be used in thermoelectric devices to convert heat into electrical energy. 🧩 Topological Insulators: These materials have unique surface properties that make them attractive for quantum computing and spintronics use. ⚡ Superconductors: Topological superconductors have brought immense attention because of possible applications in quantum computation.     It’s here! 🎉 A brand-new #sputter #tool from FHR Anlagenbau GmbH has just arrived at AMO’s cleanroom. This cutting-edge equipment will play a key role in fabricating AlN waveguides for the BMBF-funded #ATIQ project, which aims at developing chip-based ion-traps for quantum computing.
