The ever-increasing need for high-resolution nanoscale imaging at low temperatures puts stringent requirements on dry cryogenics. The tendency for good thermal contact between the cold head and the sample is challenged by the tendency for weak mechanical contact which would diminish the transfer of vibrations. Low-vibration dry cryostats have for a long time been the hallmark of attocube.
