🩺 Event Recap: Taiwanese-German Conference on Healthcare Applications 🌐   Today, we welcomed nearly 80 participants to the Taiwanese-German Conference on Healthcare Applications at Illume Taipei. The event marked the start of a multi-day delegation visit organized under the Foreign Market Entry Programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), bringing innovative German healthcare companies to Taiwan.   Opening remarks were delivered by our Executive Director Dr. Eva Langerbeck, Niklas Mahlke from Germany Trade & Invest, and Sonia Chen from the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Promotion Office (Ministry of Economic Affairs (Taiwan)). Keynotes by Rajani Sabanantham (GHA - German Health Alliance) and Wallace Lin (Taiwan Bio Industry Organization (Taiwan BIO)) provided valuable insights into current market developments in both Germany and Taiwan.   The event featured presentations from five German companies: 🔹 BioMed X GmbH – Dr. Christian Tidona (BioMed X Institute) 🔹 HWI pharma services GmbH – Dr. Philipp Wissel (HWI group) 🔹 PRIMACYT GmbH – Dieter Runge (PRIMACYT Cell Culture Technology GmbH) 🔹 ROHDE KG – Karl-Heinz Rohde 🔹 Sensoplast GmbH – Frank Busch (Sensoplast Packmitteltechnik GmbH)   The afternoon continued with networking and business matchmaking sessions, offering a platform for dialogue, partnerships, and exchange between Taiwanese and German stakeholders in pharma and biotech. 🤝   A big thank you to all our speakers, guests, and partners who made this event a success! Meet our new #legal intern, Leon Schönfeld!   Leon is currently completing his legal clerkship (Rechtsreferendariat) in Berlin after finishing his law studies in 2022. He decided to join the #AHK to gain valuable experience in intercultural relations and to expand his knowledge by comparing different legal systems.   His trip to Taiwan is also his first to Asia, and he is thrilled by the unique nature and cultural impressions that the country offers him. He is particularly fond of the mountains around Taipei, which is why he regularly goes out on his bike to explore the surrounding area.   Over the next few months, Leon will be handling legal inquiries, drafting and reviewing contracts, and supporting legal aspects of company foundation. 🌍 The German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) World Conference 2025 has officially kicked off in #Berlin! 🇩🇪 From now until May 15, leaders from the global #AHK network — representing 150 locations in over 90 countries — are gathering to shape the future of international business. 💼   📌 Today’s focus: the strong partnership between the AHKs, the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs), and our parent organization, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). Together, AHKs, IHKs, and the DIHK represent 4 million companies and entrepreneurs — the largest business network in the world. 🌐   🎤 In her keynote speech, Chief Executive of the DIHK Ms. Dr. Helena Melnikov highlighted a key message: “The economy needs politics and politics needs the economy.” Advocacy has never been more important and will also be one of our main focuses in the years to come.   🤖 One of today’s highlights was the AI@AHK competition! We were delighted to welcome Mr. Frank Gotthardt, Member of the Board of Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, and Mr. Stefan Reinhardt, General Manager of Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, to our office last Tuesday, together with the colleagues from Merck Group Taiwan.   The Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, named after the Merck family and primarily sponsored by Merck, is one of the most highly acclaimed independent orchestras in the German music scene. It was founded in 1966 by a small group of music-loving employees as the “Instrumental Group at Merck,” which over time developed into a chamber orchestra, then a chamber philharmonic, and finally, in 2003, became the well-known Deutsche Philharmonie Merck. From its beginnings as a company ensemble, it has grown into one of the best-known freelance orchestras in Germany, now comprising nearly 100 professional musicians. Its repertoire spans all styles, from Baroque and classical to romantic, jazz and film music.   During the meeting, we discussed the future cooperation related to their upcoming live tour in #Kaohsiung and #Taipei this December. Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC Taiwan) and the Maritime Technology Innovation Centre (MTIC by MIRDC) to our office.   🤝 Our team, including Ms. Linda Blechert, General Manager, DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., Mr. Nico Cron, Senior Manager Market Entry, and Mr. Philipp Molz, Manager Market Entry, met with Ms. Cindy Hsin-Chih Tsai, Project Manager at MIRDC, Mr. William Lin, Industry Researcher at MTIC, and Ms. Anne Kuo, Deputy Administrator at MTIC.   💬 We had an insightful exchange about MTIC’s core mission. MTIC was established to become one of the leading training centers for marine and offshore 🌊 professionals in the Asia-Pacific region. During our discussion, we also explored offshore wind in more depth and identified potential hurdles and areas for international collaboration.   🌱 MIRDC also introduced us to their broader innovation landscape, which aligns especially well with our focus areas — healthcare, sustainability, green energy, and aerospace — where we see strong potential for future collaboration. 🚀   A big thank you to MIRDC and MTIC for the inspiring discussion.
