📢 Our latest Flash Survey is out!   From March 7–20, we asked German businesses in Taiwan how they assess the impact of the German federal election and potential U.S. policy shifts on their operations.   While the survey shows that over 50% anticipate negative effects from possible U.S. tariffs, many companies have since emphasized that these challenges—though serious—may not have an immediate or drastic impact. Instead, they are adapting through supply chain diversification and stronger local partnerships.   On the German side, responses were more optimistic, with expectations of closer economic ties and increased support for international businesses.   Thanks to all who participated! Yesterday, we hosted our GTO Wirtschaftsstammtisch – Spring Edition 2025 in the cozy atmosphere of Hua Shan Din Café x Bar in Taipei! It was a wonderful evening of reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new members of the German-Taiwanese business community. 🐣 Happy Easter Monday from the German Trade Office Taipei!   While Easter isn't a public holiday in Taiwan, it's one of the most important holidays in Germany. The long weekend starts on Karfreitag (Good Friday) and ends with Easter Monday, which is also a public holiday.   Traditionally, Easter in Germany is a time for family gatherings, festive meals, and especially for children — they search for colorful eggs and sweets hidden by the Osterhase (Easter Bunny) 🐇. 📈Q1 Bilateral Trade Shows Steady Growth, with Strong Complementarity in Industrial Structure   Bilateral trade between Germany and Taiwan reached USD 5 billion in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 2 percent year-on-year increase, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance.   Taiwan’s exports to Germany totaled USD 1.7 billion, primarily consisting of information and communication products (USD 464 million), electronic components (USD 287 million), and vehicles and transport equipment (USD 190 million).   Imports from Germany amounted to USD 3.3 billion. Key imports included chemicals (USD 572 million), vehicles and transport equipment (USD 538 million), and electronic components (USD 522 million). 👋 Meet our new Governmental Affairs & Events Intern, Vicky Lee!   Vicky is currently a junior at Fu Jen Catholic University, where she studies German Language and Culture. With a strong interest in event planning and public affairs, she joined our Governmental Affairs & Events Team to take on new challenges and explore the practical side of international business relations.   Through this internship, Vicky hopes to gain hands-on experience, improve her communication skills, and become more independent. As someone who enjoys learning languages, she is not only studying German but has also picked up some Thai in her free time.
