📈Q1 Bilateral Trade Shows Steady Growth, with Strong Complementarity in Industrial Structure   Bilateral trade between Germany and Taiwan reached USD 5 billion in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 2 percent year-on-year increase, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance.   Taiwan’s exports to Germany totaled USD 1.7 billion, primarily consisting of information and communication products (USD 464 million), electronic components (USD 287 million), and vehicles and transport equipment (USD 190 million).   Imports from Germany amounted to USD 3.3 billion. Key imports included chemicals (USD 572 million), vehicles and transport equipment (USD 538 million), and electronic components (USD 522 million). 🤝 Strengthening Ties with Southern Taiwan   On April 8, our Chief Representative Dr. Eva Langerbeck visited Deputy Mayor Lo Ta-Sheng at the Net Zero Institute in Kaohsiung to discuss opportunities for cooperation between German companies and the city government.   Kaohsiung is transitioning from its legacy in petrochemicals and steel toward high-value industries like semiconductors, 5G, IoT, and AI — all underpinned by its ambitious goals in ESG, digitalization, and net-zero transformation.   📍 The meeting took place at the Net Zero Institute, a key initiative launched by the Kaohsiung City Government to advance industrial decarbonization. Strengthening Taiwan-Germany Collaboration in the Semiconductor Sector   Yesterday, we successfully hosted a seminar in Taichung together with the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), bringing together key stakeholders from the semiconductor and precision machinery industries.   With expert insights from Cornelia Probst (Saxony Trade & Invest Corp.), Steffen Rietzschel (City of Dresden), Frank Bösenberg (Silicon Saxony), Chee How Tan (Infineon Technologies Taiwan), and Jiun Chen (Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院)), the event offered a comprehensive look into cross-border cooperation and emerging opportunities between Taiwan and Germany.   Looking ahead, we will continue this momentum by leading a high-level business delegation to Saxony from June 16–19, 2025.
