Intern Exchange with the German Institute Taipei Yesterday morning, we kicked off our intern exchange at the German Institute Taipei (GIT), where Lena Maria Scheufen (龙瑞纳), their intern, welcomed us in the Taipei 101 lobby and gave us a tour of their office. After that they provided valuable insights into the work of the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswaertiges-Amt. De), diplomatic careers, and life as a German diplomat. Julian Goldmann, Head of Science & Technology, introduced his work in fostering German-Taiwanese cooperation in education and research. In the afternoon, Lena Maria visited our office, where our different departments gave an overview of our work and services. It was a great opportunity to exchange experiences, explore career paths, and strengthen connections. 👋 Meet our New Events, Delegations, and Governmental Affairs Intern, Irena Chih-Yen Tzeng! Irena recently graduated from Tamkang University with a degree in International Business and plans to pursue an MBA in Hsinchu this fall. Born in Hamburg and raised in Schleswig-Holstein, she has a strong connection to Taiwan, having spent many summers in Kaohsiung with her family. Her professional experience includes working at a French startup in Taiwan, where she helped Taiwanese SMEs expand into German-speaking markets. Now, she’s eager to gain insights from the opposite perspective - supporting German businesses looking to expand in Taiwan. Having lived in Seoul for 2.5 years to study Korean and with family ties in Japan, Irena is familiar with diverse cultures. As a native Chinese speaker, she’s now working on improving her business vocabulary, especially in reading and writing. In her free time, she enjoys reading Japanese authors, going to the gym, exploring Taiwan’s East Coast and working on 3D modeling projects in Blender. 💼 Over the next four months, Irena will support our Business Alliance Team, assisting with research, organizing events, preparing delegation and company visits and handling inquiries from German and Taiwanese companies. She’s excited to expand her network and learn more about German-Taiwanese collaboration. 🤝 Welcome to the team, Irena!
