✨ FRANZ Rising Star Project: Innovation and Global Exchange in Ceramic Art ✨   The 5th FRANZ Rising Star Project was officially launched recently, bringing together artists and cultural leaders from around the world to explore the limitless possibilities of ceramic art. Since its establishment in 2018, this globally pioneering non-profit ceramic art scholarship has provided over $300,000 USD in funding, supporting the creation of more than 2,500 original works from 70 countries, driving innovation in ceramic art.   Dr. Eva Langerbeck, our Chief Representative and Executive Director, stated in her speech: "Ceramic art spans history and modernity, blending tradition with technology. It is one of the oldest yet most innovative art forms in the world. The FRANZ Rising Star Project serves as an important platform to support young artists in pushing the boundaries of creativity."   This year’s theme, "A Split Second," challenges artists to capture fleeting moments in timeless ceramic creations. 👋 Meet our New Events, Delegations, and Governmental Affairs Intern, Irena Chih-Yen Tzeng! Irena recently graduated from Tamkang University with a degree in International Business and plans to pursue an MBA in Hsinchu this fall. Born in Hamburg and raised in Schleswig-Holstein, she has a strong connection to Taiwan, having spent many summers in Kaohsiung with her family. Her professional experience includes working at a French startup in Taiwan, where she helped Taiwanese SMEs expand into German-speaking markets. Now, she’s eager to gain insights from the opposite perspective - supporting German businesses looking to expand in Taiwan. Having lived in Seoul for 2.5 years to study Korean and with family ties in Japan, Irena is familiar with diverse cultures. As a native Chinese speaker, she’s now working on improving her business vocabulary, especially in reading and writing. In her free time, she enjoys reading Japanese authors, going to the gym, exploring Taiwan’s East Coast and working on 3D modeling projects in Blender. 💼 Over the next four months, Irena will support our Business Alliance Team, assisting with research, organizing events, preparing delegation and company visits and handling inquiries from German and Taiwanese companies. MOEA Highlights Key Sectors for German-Taiwanese Cooperation    During a courtesy visit, our Chief Representative & Executive Director Dr. Eva Langerbeck met with Deputy Minister Cynthia Kiang to discuss the key sectors that Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) is prioritizing for future collaboration. The MOEA emphasized its focus on healthcare (AI & biotech), aerospace (satellite technology), security technology, semiconductors, and energy (renewables & storage), as well as transport and smart city solutions. These sectors reflect Taiwan’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement.   The discussion reaffirmed the strong economic ties between Germany and Taiwan, highlighting the potential for increased cooperation and investment. Taipei Mayor Meets German Company Representatives 🤝   Last week, we facilitated a meeting between Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and key representatives of German companies at Taipei City Hall. This exchange provided an excellent platform to discuss economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and the strong presence of German businesses in Taipei.   Our Chief Representative & Executive Director, Dr. Eva Langerbeck, took the opportunity to formally invite Mayor Chiang to this year’s German Christmas Market, continuing our tradition of fostering cultural and economic ties between Germany and Taiwan. The meeting was attended by Ingo Brandenburg (Managing Director & General Manager Pharma, Bayer Taiwan), Frank Grunert (President & CEO, Siemens Ltd. Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm Inauguration 🌊   Yesterday, Dr. Eva Langerbeck, our Chief Representative & Executive Director, attended the official inauguration of the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (OWF). Now fully operational at 640 MW, it stands as one of Taiwan’s largest offshore wind farms, providing clean energy to over 600,000 households.   The ceremony gathered key industry and government leaders, including Cynthia Kiang, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs, and Patrick Lammers, CEO of Skyborn Renewables, highlighting the strong commitment to Taiwan’s clean energy transition.   🔹 Key Facts: ✔ 640 MW capacity ✔ 80 turbines across 82 km² ✔ 20-year supply agreements with Taiwan Power Company (TPC)   Developed by Skyborn Renewables and partners, the project marks a key milestone in Germany-Taiwan collaboration in renewable energy.
