German Expertise at Energy Taiwan 2025!   At Energy Taiwan, German companies showcased their latest innovations in energy, sustainability, and renewable technologies. Our Executive Director Dr. Eva Langerbeck took the opportunity to exchange ideas with them on current trends and developments in the energy sector. Our Oktoberfest 2025 – a Great Success in Taichung & Taipei!   We brought the spirit of Bavaria to Taiwan! Our biggest German networking event of the year, our Oktoberfest, made its debut in Taichung and returned to Taipei for another unforgettable evening!   We were honored to welcome Deputy Mayor Mark Huang from the Taichung City Government, Taiwan (R.O.C.) 中華民國台中市政府 at our Taichung celebration, as well as Mr. Karsten Tietz, Director General of the German Institute Taipei, and Mr. Lutz Güllner (谷力哲), Head of the European Economic and Trade Office (EU Office in Taiwan) 歐洲經貿辦事處, at our Taipei event.   With traditional German music by The Frankenräuber band, authentic food and Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier, as well as lively stage games, both events brought together business leaders and friends from the German-Taiwanese community for a night full of fun, networking, and cultural exchange.   In total, our Oktoberfest gathered around 160 participants across 20 tables in Taichung and an impressive 620 participants across 77 tables in Taipei — setting a new record! Connecting with Leading Industry Partners in Taiwan Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting key leaders in Taiwan’s automotive and electronics sectors to discuss current developments and explore future collaborations. On October 20, our Executive Director, Dr. Eva Langerbeck met with Mr. Mark Raine, the new CEO and President of our Business Alliance Platinum partner Mercedes-Benz Taiwan, Ltd., to talk about the company’s long-standing presence in Taiwan as well as opportunities and challenges in the local automotive industry. The following day she visited Mr. Marvin Kuo, Managing Director of Rohde & Schwarz Taiwan, focusing on their extensive range of electronic equipment, systems, and solutions, particularly in connectivity and security, as well as potential cooperation and trade fair participation with our office It was an inspiring exchange that opened up new perspectives for German-Taiwanese business cooperation. Economic Exchange with Members of the German-Taiwanese Parliamentary Friendship Group Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of different German state parliaments to our office for an insightful economic briefing. Our Executive Director, Dr. Eva Langerbeck, General Manager Ms. Linda Blechert, and Mr. Jürgen Maurer, Director/Correspondent Taiwan at Germany Trade & Invest, engaged in a productive discussion with: Mr. Markus Rinderspacher, Vice President of the Bavarian State Parliament and Chairman of the Bavaria-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Rainer Genilke, Vice President of the Landtag Brandenburg; Steeven Bretz, Member of the Brandenburg State Parliament; Ms. Tamara Lüdke and Mr. Jian Omar, Members of the Berlin House of Representatives; Mr. Karl Freller and Ms. Gabi Schmidt, Members of the Bavarian State Parliament; and Mr. Olaf Steinbiß, Member of the Hamburg State Parliament, along with Ms. Luan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The discussion centered on deepening German-Taiwanese economic cooperation and sharing insights on ongoing projects. We are excited about the prospects ahead and look forward to building successful collaborations in the near future. 🤝 Fostering German-Taiwanese Exchange at Kaohsiung Universities On October 14 and 15, our Executive Director, Dr. Eva Langerbeck, visited 文藻外語大學 Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, where she engaged with students and faculty in inspiring discussions and met Prof. Dr. Chang Shou-Hui, German language lecturer at Wenzao Ursuline University and Honorary Director of the German Institute Taipei in South Taiwan. At both universities, Dr. Langerbeck delivered presentations in German, providing students with an in-depth overview of our office, our activities, and the distinctive aspects of German business etiquette. It was inspiring to meet so many young people eager to learn about Germany’s language, culture, and professional environment.
